The second purpose/focus is to help former Olympians transition their lives from public celebrities to private productive citizens. Making the Olympic team and matching talents in competition against athletes from over 200 countries in the world is by far the highest honor an athlete can achieve and prove to its country. Public notoriety often accompanies this accomplishment. Unfortunately there are very limited opportunities to move from amateur athletics to professional sports careers. These opportunities are more limited for women. The ACTFF will assist former Olympians with career/academic planning, academic support, business development planning, medical services, and temporary survival basics. ACTFF will use the clearinghouse network and the process described in the Third section to provide this assistance. The ACTFF will assist qualified athletes from varied sports backgrounds. Currently, major colleges or universities are the primary vehicles available for talented amateur athletes to test their skills against the world. If athletes are not in a major college or a well organized program, their skills may never be discovered. The ACTFF has a two pronged purpose and focus. The first is to establish a clearinghouse to provide assistance for proven athletes. Our primary goal is to help non-athletic scholarship collegiate and non-collegiate amateur athletes to move their talents to the next level of development ( USOC-United States Olympic Committee, college-scholarship-professional ).This assistance may take various forms including: referral to experts; sports medical direction and education; health and fitness education and training; career education and training; limited academic support; sports education and training; while promoting peace, friendship and amateur athletics - the goals of the modern day Olympic founder, Baron Pierre de Coubertin.
